The Czech-Xishuangbanna Tea Association (CZEXITEAS) has been established in 2025 as a private-research platform for facilitating international puer tea trade, analyzing various aspects of Xishuangbanna Tea Culture and raising the public awareness about Xishuangbanna tea industry in Europe.
Xishuangbanna (西双版纳), also known as Mengbalanaxi (勐巴拉娜) or Sipsongpanna (᧑᧒ᦗᧃᦓᦱ), presents one of the most famous puer tea regions (普洱茶) in Southwest China (Yunnan Province). Xishuangbanna has mountainous landscape (>600-2200 m.a.s.l.) and covers an area of about 1/4 of the Czech republic (<20.000 km2).
Xishuangbanna is also sometimes reffered as a “Kingdom of Plants and Animals” due to its rich biodiversity and unique tropical environment with sub-tropical climate. In addition, Xishuangbanna belongs to one of the most famous tourist spots in Yunnan Province. Apart from various historical landmarks, vibrant local markets and delicious tribal food, there can be also found vast rainforests, beautiful hiking trails and numerous tourist attractions that will satisfy every tea lover.
Historically, the Xishuangbanna teas have been systematically sourced from Six Ancient Tea Mountains (古六大茶山) since Tang Dynasty (618-907) through the Ancient Horse and Tea Road (茶马古道). From the Yuan Dynasty (1276-1368) and Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), these teas were widely known as a puer tea (普洱茶).
While the international trade with Xishuangbanna puer tea became a prominent commodity until the end of Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the first systemic modernization of the Yunnan puer tea industry came up in the late 1930s. Since 1970s, the puer teas became increasingly demanded and traded outside of Yunnan.
To date, Xishuangbanna belongs to one of the most famous and most demanded puer tea region in the world. The teas are sourced from our members and partners, particularly well-established tea factories, private tea collectors and experimental tea research institutes in Xishuangbanna. We also provide tea sample boxes both for retail and wholesale.
