✍️Ink Fragrance and Tea Charm Nourishing Tea Mountains Meetup (墨香茶韵润茶山)
🌱On 1st November 2025, the CZEXITEAS attended a special tea event in Mengsong village (勐宋村) dedicated to caligraphy and Xishuangbanna Tea Culture across Twelve Tea Mountains. The event was held in Damenglong (大勐龙镇), a small remote micro-region at the borders between China and Myanmar.
🛖The Mengsong village has approximately 3000 people (2025), where most of them are represented by the Hani tribe (哈尼族), one of the 13th ethnic groups in Xishuangbanna. The Mengsong village is located more than 2 hours by car from Jinghong city (景洪市) at the elevation between 1430-1641 m.a.s.l.
🍵During the event, we visited Mengsong Tea Gardens and studied the differences between local sweet (Tiancha 甜茶) and bitter teas (Kucha 苦茶) from giant tea leaf type (Tedayezhong 特大叶种) of Camellia Sinensis var. Assamica. Apart from that, we visited a new Mengsong Tea Factory producing red teas (both machine-dried 滇红 and sun-dried 晒红) from new cultivar Bohua (佛花), which has intense honey-flower fragrance and richer color.
🎎After the inspection of the factory and tea tasting, we watched the dance of Hani people in their traditional costumes with typical Mengsong patterns (green-black-white-red-yellow-blue) and observed the art of ink by various Xishuangbanna caligraphy masters.
🙏The event was hosted by the Xishuangbanna Prefecture Caligraphy Association (西版纳州书法家协会) and Xishuangbanna Tea Industry Association (西双版纳州茶业协会) and co-organized with the help of the Mengsong Village Tea Division (西双版纳州景洪市勐宋村茶叶专业合作社). The main partners of the event were Menghai County Tea Association (西双版纳州勐海县茶叶协会), Xishuangbanna Tea Division of the State Farm Group Company (西双版纳州农垦集团公司茶叶分公司) and Tea College of Xishuangbanna Vocational and Technical Institute (西双版纳职业技术学院茶学院) among others. We thank the organizers for the invitation and looking forward to sharing more news about Xishuangbanna Tea Culture!
